Bikini vs. the Beach
Stay Awhile is about women in their own spaces, but that’s not always at home. Passions can take people to all kinds of places, including the ocean, especially in a place like Southern California.
Jenna just wanted to try out modeling, so we planned a beach day. The ocean wasn’t as polite to Jenna as I was, crashing over her and attempting to steal her top. But that also gave me dynamic shots like this, the beauty and chaos of nature a wonderful contrast to Jenna’s sculpted bikini body. Since she also laughs at my jokes, I got some wonderful shots of her positive energy.
I connected with Sam on Instagram and decided to join her to get some photos of her surfing session, but she also practiced some modeling. I especially enjoyed getting candid shots like these. We’ve shot several times since then, and her confidence has gone through the roof.
Sometimes, a bit of vague direction can result a wonderful, unexpected moment. I asked my friend Twinkle to “adjust her bikini top,” and I ended up with a few gems. I love the texture of her skin and the subtle sensuality of this seemingly mundane moment.
